QR Code Identification Plates for Operating Room Instruments and Equipment

Original: https://cli.im/article/detail/1826

Operating rooms contain a vast number and variety of instruments and equipment. Clinical use, registration, maintenance, and repairs involve substantial workloads, present high challenges for traceability, and often result in inefficient management.

To address this, through departmental research and brainstorming, we designed an identification system for managing operating room instruments and equipment. By integrating QR codes, we incorporated comprehensive information and management tasks for these devices, giving rise to the "Electronic ID" for operating room instruments and equipment.

The identification plate is divided into left and right sections. The left side features an adjustable dial displaying the current status of the equipment. The right side contains a QR code slot; scanning the code reveals basic equipment information, operational procedures, maintenance records, and loan status. The plate can be magnetically attached to instruments and equipment and repositioned as needed.

Traditional Card-Based Instrument Operation Procedures VS "Electronic ID" Scannable Operation Procedures

Compared to traditional text-based records, the "Electronic ID" can store significantly more information about instruments and equipment, accessible anytime by scanning the code. This facilitates better integration of engineers' maintenance records with the operating room's equipment archives!

Innovation and Promotion

The effective application of the "Electronic ID" has gained recognition from sister hospitals and related departments, encouraging mutual learning and joint promotion to further refine the management of operating room instruments and equipment!
