The 5S methodology is a modern enterprise management model. 5S stands for Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), and Shitsuke (Sustain). It is also known as the "Five Principles."

5S originated in Japan and refers to the effective management of personnel, machines, materials, methods, and other production factors on the shop floor. This is a unique management method developed by Japanese companies. In 1955, Japan's 5S slogan was "Safety starts with sorting and ends with sorting and organizing." At that time, only the first two S's were promoted, with the aim of ensuring adequate and safe workspace. By 1986, Japanese works on 5S gradually emerged, impacting the entire field management model and sparking a wave of 5S enthusiasm.

Advocated and promoted by companies like Toyota, 5S has played a significant role in shaping corporate image, reducing costs, ensuring on-time delivery, promoting safety, achieving high standardization, creating pleasant workplaces, and facilitating on-site improvements. It has been recognized by management communities worldwide.
