Since 2010, Jiaoyun Wenxin Bus began adding "Love Umbrellas" as a public convenience service facility in the Route 31 buses. To date, Wenxin Bus has extended this service to over 1,000 buses across dozens of routes, benefiting tens of thousands of passengers over the past decade. On August 13th, to facilitate self-service umbrella borrowing for passengers, an umbrella borrow and return system was first launched on Routes 31 and 468, making it more convenient for passengers to borrow and return umbrellas.

On the morning of August 13th, staff on Route 31 began placing QR codes for umbrella borrowing and returning inside the buses. If passengers encounter unexpected rain during their ride, they can contact the bus driver, who will then present the QR code. Passengers can scan the green QR code to access the WeChat Mini Program for the umbrella borrow and return system. Opening the "Borrow Record Form" will automatically recognize the borrower's name and contact information. Then, scanning the black QR code will automatically identify the bus number. For returns, scanning the code opens the "Return Record Form," where the bus number can be entered. If the umbrella is returned by someone other than the borrower, the borrower's phone number should be entered in the remarks section below.

"Every year when Qingdao enters the flood season, our Wenxin Bus Love Umbrellas come in handy for passengers promptly. To make borrowing and returning more convenient and to systematize management, we launched the 'Umbrella Borrow and Return System' on Routes 31 and 468. Passengers simply need to open WeChat, scan the QR code, and register—it's practical and easy to use," said Luo Chunnian, the Route 31 team leader.

Wenxin Bus staff stated that for convenience in returning the umbrellas, they can be returned to any Wenxin Bus vehicle or at any Wenxin Bus Love Station. If the return is made on a bus other than Routes 31 or 468, passengers can take a photo of the borrow and return QR code to keep for return registration.
