Ningbo Jiangbei District has equipped over 6,200 manholes with "ID cards." The newly upgraded "One Cover, One Code" system includes additional information such as pipeline direction, road names, and maintenance contact numbers. Each manhole features a QR code and is fitted with a stainless steel corrosion-resistant nameplate, secured on both sides with rivets. This facilitates citizens and maintenance units in quickly identifying the responsible department for missing or damaged manhole covers. With digital empowerment, manhole issues will have no hiding place!

"If there's an issue with this manhole cover, just scan the QR code, take a photo, and upload it. Someone will come to inspect it soon. This has significantly improved the efficiency of road inspections," said Qian Weibing, a road inspector in Jiangbei District, pointing to a manhole cover on Dazha Road. Recently, "upgraded" nameplates have been gradually installed along the roads under his jurisdiction. By simply scanning the QR code and uploading photos to the system, precise information about the manhole cover can be reported to the relevant departments for swift resolution.

To reduce road safety hazards and facilitate quick identification of responsible parties for missing or damaged manhole covers by citizens and maintenance units, the municipal maintenance department of Jiangbei District Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau recently redesigned and upgraded the identification nameplates for manholes on roads under its jurisdiction, including Beihuan West Road, Huaishu Road, Dazha Road, Chezhan Road, Yangshan Road, and Baisha Road. Different installation methods were chosen based on the road surface materials, and installation is being carried out progressively.

By scanning the QR code on the nameplate, citizens and maintenance personnel can directly access the feedback interface for the corresponding manhole cover. By adding on-site photos of the manhole, describing the situation, and obtaining real-time location information, issues such as missing or damaged covers or overflowing pipelines can be promptly reported to the relevant management units in an intuitive,图文结合的 manner. This helps reduce safety hazards and ensures safer road travel.
