Precise Prevention and Control Experience for Train Station Passengers with Asterisked Travel Codes

From the end of 2021 to the beginning of 2022, Ningbo successively faced two waves of the epidemic in "Zhenhai" and "Beilun". Epidemic prevention work at transportation hubs is the responsibility of our city's Highway and Transport Management Center. Online channels such as public forums frequently receive questions like, "Can I travel if my travel code has an asterisk (*)?" This indicates that people still have necessary travel needs but are concerned about potential blanket control policies at their destinations.

We consulted the Epidemic Prevention Office. Disease control experts explained that having an asterisk on the travel code does not necessarily mean quarantine is required; it depends on the specific situation. For example, administratively, area A belongs to city B. Big data shows area A is a medium or high-risk area. Currently, except for area A, all other areas in city B are low-risk. The travel code marks city B with an asterisk and further explains, "City B has medium or high-risk areas, but this does not indicate that the user has actually visited these medium or high-risk areas." If the user has been to medium or high-risk areas, they will be quarantined; if not, quarantine is not required. However, in reality, the epidemic control areas in city B may change dynamically.

Therefore, the business department proposed a requirement to set up QR codes at major train stations in the city to collect information from passengers with asterisked travel codes who have not actually been to medium or high-risk areas. Our technology department quickly used CaoLiao QR codes to create registration QR codes. The business department printed them out and posted them at station checkpoints, allowing passengers to scan and fill in their information contact-free. Every morning, we export the previous day's detailed data from the backend and send it to the business department for statistical reporting.

If control areas in these cities change, we can quickly identify close-contact passenger information, determine the scope of impact, and improve the efficiency of contact tracing, all without affecting passengers' travel experience. This helps cut the transmission chain as quickly as possible.

During the epidemic, many tasks require balancing prevention effectiveness with the actual situation of the public. Our frontline colleagues, under immense work pressure, have managed to consider details and human factors thoughtfully—truly commendable! Thanks to everyone's efforts, Ningbo quickly controlled the spread of the epidemic. Currently, both Zhenhai District and Beilun District have been fully unsealed.
