A "new face" has appeared on the computer hosts of employees in the Capital Settlement Business Department—a QR code tag. Simply scanning it with WeChat reveals all relevant information about the computer directly on the mobile screen.

Shortly after the year-end closing, the Capital Settlement Business Department promptly launched a week-long asset inventory check. They meticulously verified the usage status, storage location, custodian, and other relevant details of equipment such as computers used by the department's staff.

In previous years, if any asset information changed, new asset labels would be printed to replace the old ones. This time, Chen Xiaofeng, who is familiar with computer applications, proposed a new idea: Can we leverage the functional advantages of QR codes to create asset tag stickers? The old asset tag stickers had their drawbacks:

  1. Limited space for filling in asset information.
  2. Any change in asset information required printing and replacing the asset label.

With QR codes, information entry and updates can be managed through the backend, eliminating the need to replace the asset tag stickers.

Where there's an idea, there's action. IT maintenance specialist Yang Yang researched online, created spreadsheets, and thus, the asset QR code was born. Everyone affixed it to the prominent front of their computers, joking: "My computer now has a 'second-generation ID card'!"
