The purpose of crash cart management is to ensure that emergency medications, supplies, and emergency equipment are in good condition, ready for use, and meet the needs of critically ill patients during emergencies, thereby ensuring timely and effective treatment for patients.
In departments where crash carts are used infrequently, it is inevitable that some nurses may not be familiar with the emergency medications and equipment. Common training methods require opening each item for training, consulting paper drug instructions, and sometimes even referring to related books. This approach is not only time-consuming but also makes training tedious, failing to motivate nurses and resulting in unsatisfactory training outcomes.
Currently, we use QR codes for management. We organize, edit, and format the management information of crash carts and related knowledge such as emergency drug instructions, then use QR code conversion tools to generate QR codes with one click. Managing crash carts by scanning QR codes allows for随时查看, convenient and fast training, improved work efficiency, and顺应信息化的发展, fully mobilizing the initiative and enthusiasm of nurses. It also enhances nurses' mastery of emergency knowledge.
Specific Implementation Method:
1. Generating QR Codes for Crash Cart Drug Instructions:
① Content includes the drug's name, specifications, effects, side effects, precautions, and images of the drug. After organizing the above information, generate a QR code. Convert the webpage link of the page template into a QR code.
② Key Handover Points: Content includes: key handover points between shifts, whether the seal is intact, and emergency equipment. Subdivide the above content and present it using a mind map, then create it into a QR code to help nursing staff grasp handover content with one click.
2. Specific Usage Method:
Arrange the generated individual QR codes on an A4 sheet, laminate them, and attach them to the top left corner of the crash cart for easy shift handovers, training, and nurse reference. Department staff can also save the QR codes on their phones for随时随地 learning via mobile devices.

Closed-loop management of crash carts is a commonly used management method. It ensures the clinical application of crash carts while reducing nurses' workload and improving work efficiency. However, in some departments where crash carts are used infrequently, nurses may not be proficient with the contents and precautions of the crash cart. Therefore, leveraging WeChat and using QR code scanning to access information allows nurses at different levels to directly understand the specific names, quantities, handover processes, usage, dosage, and precautions of medications and items in the crash cart.
Compared to traditional paper materials, this method is more visual and specific, saves costs, conserves energy, is economical and environmentally friendly, and不易丢失. It also facilitates the training of new hires and helps nurses utilize碎片时间 for learning, mobilizing their initiative and enthusiasm, thereby improving their familiarity and mastery of the crash cart.
It is evident that WeChat QR codes have achieved good results. Meanwhile, electronic instructions for commonly used drugs in the department are also made into QR codes using the same method, facilitating learning and reference for nursing staff. Due to its simple operation and convenience, different departments can customize content based on their crash cart information and apply it to the management of other instruments and equipment.
