Walking into the tools and equipment management center at the bulk cargo terminal of Weifang Port Area, Shandong Port Bohai Bay Port, a wide array of tools and equipment are neatly arranged on shelves. With so many varieties, how can one quickly select the right one?

It turns out that to enhance the management level and achieve intelligent management of tools and equipment, the Weifang Port Area Tools and Equipment Management Center has affixed QR codes to the tool shelves, giving each tool its own "ID card."

"This QR code is really useful. Previously, the concept of tools and equipment was ambiguous. Now, by scanning the code, the usage requirements and scrapping standards are clearly defined. The efficiency of tool issuance has improved, and I have also gained knowledge about the relevant tools and equipment," said Sun Zhen, the duty director of the dispatch office.

These small QR codes contain a wealth of information. Relevant details about the tools and equipment are pre-edited and uploaded to generate exclusive QR codes. By scanning the QR code, personnel can access basic introductions, usage requirements, scrapping standards, and other information about the tool, making management more convenient, efficient, and safe. Employees can "scan to receive" and "scan to learn," further improving the efficiency of tool distribution.

Shandong Port is the first "Smart Port" construction pilot project of the Ministry of Transport. The Weifang Port Area of Bohai Bay Port continuously leverages technological power to accelerate production and improve efficiency, advancing the construction of a smart and green port to a new level. It is reported that the warehouse area of the Weifang Port Area Tools and Equipment Management Center is approximately 1,000 square meters. The renovation began at the end of March this year and was completed and put into use in May. The existing tools and equipment are divided into six major categories and seven functional areas, with corresponding QR code labels already produced and put into use. This initiative is also an effective measure to strengthen refined management and will lay the foundation for enhancing professional standards.

The use of QR codes marks the starting point of informatized control. The Weifang Port Area of Bohai Bay Port will continue to improve operational efficiency, enhance work quality, and reduce operating costs through refined, professional, and informatized management, contributing to the high-quality development of the port.
