Recently, the Locomotive and Rolling Stock Depot of Ningdong Railway Company, under Western Venture, conducted inspections of the firefighting facilities under its management. By scanning the QR codes on the fire extinguishers, inspectors could immediately access relevant information such as the current inspection task, fire extinguisher records, inspection requirements, inspection status, and completion status. The top of the page also displayed real-time fire safety and electrical usage tips along with usage instructions.
"With just one scan, you can trace back to inspection information, results, and the current inspection task. It's all clearly displayed on the inspector's mobile phone, leaving nothing hidden," said Wang Yonggang, a safety supervisor at the Ningdong Railway Company's Locomotive and Rolling Stock Depot.
Subsequently, fire facility managers reviewed the inspection records and the status of the fire extinguishers item by item using the electronic forms associated with the inspection tasks.

Where did this "QR code trail" originate?
This year, the Ningdong Railway Company's Locomotive and Rolling Stock Depot has focused on integrating "unified information sharing" to address pain points in fire safety management. By breaking down information barriers and silos, and enhancing data resource integration, the depot has established a pilot program for "one code, one record" for firefighting facilities. They have launched a "one-code management" application matrix, initiating a "digital" transformation in information management models.
The depot has expanded inspection methods, adhering to a checklist-based approach. They have created records for equipment, personnel, and production safety information, and based on inspection results, promptly maintained and updated equipment status and archival information.

"QR code inspections not only avoid the opaque information management issues associated with traditional paper-based inspections—such as the inability to monitor and control in real-time—but also effectively motivate operators to voluntarily conduct inspections and make corrections. By establishing an official database through intelligent statistics, we can further coordinate equipment and information resources from all parties, improving the efficiency of management and inspections," explained Su Zhiyong, head of the Ningdong Railway Company's Locomotive and Rolling Stock Depot.
"QR codes empower the integration of an efficient information-sharing platform, allowing everyone to easily understand the safety status of coded equipment and personnel, enhancing safety control efficiency, and further ensuring safety."

In the next phase, the Western Venture Ningdong Railway Company will continue to enhance the application level of QR codes, integrating code assignment with an "interactive experience" to continuously optimize QR code management. At the same time, they will summarize the pilot experience of empowering firefighting facilities with QR codes and explore the advancement of data visualization and closed-loop management for equipment and vocational training, thereby amplifying the multiplier effect of digital transformation on management capabilities.
