Recently, QR codes were discovered on equipment managed by the Dengfeng Inspection Team of a power supply company's substation operation department. Scanning them reveals neither payment interfaces nor official accounts, but rather operational guides - methods for main transformer tap adjustment, arc suppression coil operations, and precautions for pressure plate operations.
With accelerated equipment upgrades at controlled stations under Dengfeng Team's jurisdiction achieving integrated control systems, some staff occasionally missed steps or confused operational sequences. To ensure precision, team leader Zhao Xin initiated a QR code solution embedding equipment operating procedures and key notes.
The implementation involved three phases:
- Audit and organize the "Operating Specifications"
- Research suitable QR code generators
- Test multiple platforms before selecting one compatible with Word document uploads
Key operational guidelines and visual references were compiled into Word documents, uploaded to the generator to create labeled QR codes. After lamination, these codes were affixed to equipment. Operators now instantly access step-by-step instructions via mobile scans, significantly improving:
- New equipment mastery speed
- Operational accuracy
- Workplace safety compliance
